There’s a never-ending list of things to do this summer in St. Louis, but when the temperature stays in the high 90s and you're still sun burnt from the Cardinal’s game, this list provides unique alternatives to beating the heat other than seeing the new Minions movie again. So you can put away the sun screen and start making family memories in these cool local places!
Pieces Board Game Bar and Restaurant
With a library of over 1200 games, your family could spend hours here playing, laughing, and eating delicious bites. Children under 12 play for FREE every day, and adults can access the game library for free on Tuesday nights. Otherwise, the library fee is $3 per person for unlimited games. Want to play a game but don’t know the rules? There are game guides walking around that would be happy to teach you!

Climb So Ill
Release some energy and reach new heights at Climb So Ill in Lafayette Park or St. Charles! With shoes and gear available to rent and knowledgeable staff members making sure you’re safe, it’s a great place to take on this fun and thrilling sport. The St. Charles location even has a section called “The Gravity Lab” which is designed specifically for kids and first time climbers. If you want more structure, they also have different classes available to help teach you the ropes (literally!).

City Museum
There’s no other place like this. Crawl through cave systems, climb up hidden passages, slide down slides into unknown depths- hours later you may never see all the secrets this museum has to offer. There are outdoor sections, but you can definitely have a more-than-worthwhile trip enjoying just the indoor exhibits. With their Summer Pass, you can play all summer for just $34.99 (including rooftop and events!).

Escape From St. Louis
Unlock new adventures at Escape From St. Louis in Maplewood! Where else can you defeat an Evil Wizard, uncover the mysteries of a Cosmic Carnival and inherit objects of unknown power in an old spooky estate? Escape rooms are a great way to connect and work together as a family while solving puzzles and having fun along the way. Not just for older kids, Wizard Quest is a great room for those younger adventurers. You have sixty minutes on the clock- are you up to the challenge?

MADE for Kids by The Magic House
Let your inner artist shine! Painting, sculpting, 3D printing, and even building robots are just a few of the ways you could get creative in this 7,000 sq ft makerspace. Tapescape, their newest exhibit, is an innovative playscape made entirely out of tape! Be sure to check out Free Family Night every third Friday of the month from 5-8 p.m. where up to 2 adults and 4 kids can visit the museum at no cost. While MADE for kids is perfect for elementary and middle schoolers, there’s MADE (for adults) on the lower level that offers memberships, classes, and third friday events as well!
